PORTFOLIO - LOTTE EKKEL
Lotte Ekkel (b. 1988, The Netherlands) is an autodidact photographer based in Amsterdam. The experience of working with vintage as well as contemporary photography for the past years, gave her tools, to not only look at what’s around her but also see and acknowledge it by the use of her photographic lens. Over the years, Ekkel trained her eye to capture the mundane in the most intriguing and poetic ways.
Ekkel finds beauty wherever she looks: in detail, she comes across on the street, in her loved ones and in people she just met. Her body of work reads like a mixture of documentary photography and intricate personal experiences. Her photographs combine moments of her daily life with journeys she undertook to many places across the world. What binds her imagery together is her fascination for structures lines and what’s most important, for colour.
Being a self-taught photographer, practicing only for a few years, Ekkel has already earned several nominations, amongst others GUP New Dutch Photography Talent 2015 and Fresh Eyes Talent 2020. In September 2020, Ekkel got selected to show her body of work at the Fresh Eyes Photo Fair in Westergas, Amsterdam. Her work sparked a lot of interest in art lovers as well as photography collectors.
Ekkel's work is one of the 4 covers of FRESH EYES book. Check it out >>>
